Exposing the criminal element for 3 years

Wasted Opportunities

Due to what we have discovered over the past three and a half years we automatically think of the 9th Circuit Solicitor when we hear the phrase “wasted opportunities”. Questionable plea deals, repeated dismissals of serious charges against serial offenders and a litany of wasted opportunities to put thugs in prison have a direct effect on the crime problem here in the tri-county area. We have yet another example to tell you about.

In January of 2014 the North Charleston Police Department locked up six members of a gang who call themselves Young Reckless Gunnas. Numerous assaults, shootings and murders have been attributed to this gang of thugs who operate out of the Dorchester Terrace and Dorchester Waylyn neighborhoods. We wrote about the arrest of these five gang members on January 21st, 2014. Let’s review the actions taken by the 9th Circuit Solicitor with regard to each of them.

Timothy McClendon - now using the name “Bloodraw Gucc” on Thugbook.

McClendon was charged with two counts of PWID Narcotics Near a School, two counts of Unlawful Possession of a Pistol, and one count each of Trafficking Cocaine, PWID Marijuana, and Possession of a Weapon During a Violent Crime.

The 9th Circuit Solicitor dismissed all of those charges on April 30th, 2015.

McClendon made bond on the above charges. While he was out on that bond he participated in the armed robbery and attempted murder of a former member of the gang who started his own gang called the 40 Boiz. That incident occurred in July 2014 at Northwoods Mall. McClendon is currently incarcerated at the SACDC on charges of Armed Robbery, Attempted Murder and Possession of a Firearm During a Violent Crime with a bond amount of $160,000. The records at the Charleston County Clerk of Court site show the weapons charge was dismissed by Judge James Gosnell at the preliminary hearing, but entries are still being made on that record.

De’Von Shaquille Jenkins - using the name “Shaq DaSilent Man” on Thugbook. He used to call himself “Shaq DaTrigga Man”.

Jenkins was charged with Trafficking Cocaine, PWID Marijuana, two counts of PWID Near A School, two counts of Unlawful Possession of a Pistol, and one count of Possession of a Weapon During a Violent Crime. The 9th Circuit Solicitor dismissed all charges on April 30th, 2015.

Jenkins made bond on the above charges and was arrested yet again in July of 2014. He was charged with Unlawful Carrying of a Pistol and Unlawful Possession of a Pistol. The 9th Circuit Solicitor dismissed those charge on October 31st, 2014.

Sharrod Robinson

Robinson was charged with Trafficking Cocaine, PWID Marijuana, two counts of PWID Near a School, one count of Possession of a Weapon During a Violent Crime and two counts of Unlawful Possession of a Pistol. The 9th Circuit Solicitor dismissed all of those charges on April 30th, 2015.

Robinson has had a total of five firearm related charges dismissed by the 9th Circuit Solicitor since 2008.

Fred Lance

Fred Lance was charged with Trafficking Cocaine, Possession of a Weapon During a Violent Crime, PWID Marijuana, two counts of PWID Near a School and two counts of Unlawful Possession of a Pistol. All of those charges were dismissed by the 9th Circuit Solicitor on April 30th, 2014.

Daqone Lance - uses the name “Cleanupman Mook” on Thugbook.

Daqone Lance was charged with Trafficking Cocaine, Possession of a Weapon During a Violent Crime, PWID Marijuana, two counts of PWID Near a School and two counts of Unlawful Possession of a Firearm. These charges are still pending. The story on this guy is a bit convoluted.

Lance initially was released on bond on the above charges. In July of 2014 he was arrested again on a charge of Unlawful Carrying of a Pistol. He was released on bond on that charge, too.

After CTL pointed out the fact that Lance had pending charges from 2013 (for shooting up North Charleston) of Unlawful Possession of a Pistol and Unlawful Carrying of a Pistol when he was arrested for a violent offense in January of 2014 and on another gun charge in July of 2014, there was an effort to revoke his bond.

While the bond revocation was pending the feds kicked in Lance’s door and locked him up. Apparently the BATFE had charges on him. Lance was incarcerated in the Georgetown County Detention Center for a while.

He was discharged from the Georgetown County Detention Center on January 30th and transported back to the SACDC in Charleston County.

We aren’t sure of the status on the federal charge, but we can tell you that Daqone Lance is now back on the street as of April 14th.

The strange thing is that Judge James “Unicorns and Rainbows” Gosnell gave Lance a bond reduction on all of his pending state charges on April 29th. Gosnell reduced bonds of approximately $700,000 for this serial violent offender to a total of $30,000 for all of the pending offenses. Don’t forget, Lance was also involved in the murder of a rival gang member when he was a juvenile.

It seems Lance is currently on an ankle monitor, as if that will keep the community safe.

A juvenile by the name of B.J. Robinson was also charged with the drug and gun offenses in January of 2014. Given what we have already seen from the 9th Circuit Solicitor we can safely assume all of those charges have also been dismissed.

To sum it up, your 9th Circuit Solicitor had a perfect opportunity to take out some key players in a violent street gang responsible for a number of murders, shootings, robberies, etc. She could have actively pursued this group, made an example of them and put them in prison for a while. What did she do instead? She chose to dismiss a total of 35 charges pending against these gang members, as well as two additional charges for one of them. That is some extraordinary docket clearing there right there. There are a number of possibilities when it comes time for Scarlett Wilson to explain this one.

She may claim the other five defendants have agreed to testify against Daqone Lance. We find that highly unlikely given they are all members of the same gang and one is a family member of Lance.

The solicitor may also claim Daqone Lance plans to plead guilty to all charges and accepted sole responsibility for the guns and the drugs. We find that unlikely, too.

Wilson may claim all of those charges were the result of shoddy police work and a bad arrest. We suspect this will be the excuse she will give, especially in light of the ridiculously low bond given to this serial offender by Judge James “Rainbows and Unicorns” Gosnell.

Still think your solicitor and judges don’t have a direct impact on our crime problem?

By the way, this crew brings our 9th Circuit gun tally to:

130 charges     69 dismissed     25 guilty pleas     36 pending

Update: We missed one.

Latrel Hamilton - uses the name “Tony Trustnone Tigar” on Thugbook.

Hamilton was also charged with Trafficking Cocaine, Possession of a Weapon During a Violent Crime, PWID Marijuana, two counts of PWID Near a School and two counts of Unlawful Possession of a Firearm. The 9th Circuit Solicitor dismissed all of those charges on April 30th, 2015.

Hamilton was arrested with Daqone Lance on July 26th, 2014 and charged with Possession of Crack/Meth and Unlawful Possession of a Firearm. Those charges are still pending.

So, to update, that is a total of 42 charges against member of the Young Reckless Gunnas by the 9th Circuit Solicitor.

That also brings our gun charge tally to:

134 charges     72 dismissed     25 guilty pleas     37 pending

  1. Does Charleston Thug Life ever expose the powers that be who control the illegal drug business? The criminals highlighted on CTL are low level street dealers not the importers, manufacturers and suppliers. Maybe if CTL exposes the “Escobars” or possible government officials or possible local wealthy and prominent citizens behind the illegal dug business in Charleston then maybe you can dismantle the real powers behind illegal business. Poor black youth in Charleston are not in charge. There must be powerful white people invested for the illegal drug business to persist the way it does. If the courts are as lenient as CTL says they are then some powerful people and likely they are not black and poor is buying that leniency.

    • First of all, CTL does not ‘expose’ these ‘street level’ lowlifes. Everything presented on these criminals is readily available as part of the public record (and their own FB page) to anyone with access to the internet. Secondly, if you have any documents/proof regarding your racist belief that local white government officials and wealthy white citizens control the illegal drug business, please do post it here. Until then, your theory (excuse) is simply a figment of your racist imagination. Put up or shut up.

  2. Drug and gun criminals should be in jail. But if the criminals on top of the crime hierarchy stay in business crime will never stop.

  3. You are racist to assume what my race is. Not all white people on CTL just go along with poplar opinion. Even you know that people with power have the power to cover their involvement in crime. Ever ask yourself who is at the ports? Where are all these drugs coming from? Who are these young people getting the drugs from? Who has the money to buy the amounts of drugs to supply the street level dealers? You don’t expose? Your CTL subtitle says EXPOSING the criminal element for 3 years. Don’t be disgusted. It’s just conversation.

    • Who said anything about your race? Nobody cares what it is. Racists come in every color of the rainbow. And I’m not disgusted with the dialogue. I’m disgusted with the gang culture, worthless solicitors/judges, and criminal justice system in general.

"You are racist to assume what my race is. …"

Who is the Racist here? Are you really saying that black people can't be invested or powerful or successful in these endeavors? Do you really think that CTL is manufacturing screen shots of Court records?

If you have proof otherwise that these slingers aren't walking away from the law that the rest of us follow with no punishment other than some slight discomfort while wearing handcuffs, please provide it. Otherwise, you are simply an apologist for Criminals.

  6. Sounds as if the Judge needs to be replaced. And maby serve some time him self, maby if he dismisses these kind of crimes never know what is in it fir him.

    • Agree. The entire judicial selection process has got to change. SC’s judges do not answer to the people; just a clique of elected public servants who want to rule over us and take out money to use in their own special interest.

I really feel for our LEOs who have to deal with this Micky Mouse court system of ours. They put their lives on the line arresting these violent monsters on probable cause and seized evidence, and then the charges are dropped??? Who’s side is the prosecutor on anyways? Certainly doesn’t look like the We The People’s. Its my opinion that she and several of our judges need to be kicked to the curb.

  7. Don’t be silly. I’m no apologist. Poor street level kids are never in charge. That doesn’t mean they’re not accountable or that are excused. Just not in charge. CTL for experiment sake should research and expose the big wigs and cartels at the helm of the illegal drug business. It would be at least interesting.

  8. I can only imagine the moral of LEOs when we have a prosecutor who keeps throwing out so many violent charges over and over and over again. And then to top it off, the laid back not give a hoot attitude of these circuit court judges in regards to violent crimes. No wonder the tri-county area is in the midst of a crime waves. Our public servants in the court system are paid good money, have excellent benefits and dozens of days paid off, and this is going on???

When was the last time SC built a prison? Late 1990s??? The population of SC has increased a significant amount. But places to house these violent monsters in our society has not. Is this the underlying reason behind some of this? But then, reduction of bond amounts to supper low levels says enough.

Charleston - we have a serious problem. And the only way to fix it is to start with these people in our court system and legislature. If we don’t, you might be the next victim of one of these sociopath thugs running wild and free on the streets.

  9. Of course its always “someone elses fault.”

  10. All the criminals involved should be exposed and in jail. All of them including the street thugs. It makes no sense for judges to release violent criminals on bond. Who let’s the judges get away with it. Sounds political and like they are bought. But maybe if the big wigs who control the ports and traffick illegal drugs into Charleston are caught then crime will drop. No one has all the answers. It’s good to talk about it on here.

  11. I am sure if CTL knew who the “big players” where they would be on their ass also. They don’t shy away from exposing crime or corruption of any race, of any office. See the BCSO stories for proof.

I am sure there are “higher” ups in the dug trade.
    a. They are not out murdering others innocently driving our public roads
    b. They are, by definition of being drug bosses, probably pretty good at what they do and thus know how to keep their tracks clear. In other words, they probably don’t post pictures of themselves on Facebook committing crimes and they probably don’t get arrested, and released, constantly.

If you know who “they” are then say so!
