Dashawn Brown Update

We first featured Dashawn Brown, aka “Young Dose“, a member of the Crappy Cowboys gang in Colleton County, when he was on the run from charges of murdering Sierra Truesdale on July 14th, 2013. You might remember Truesdale was celebrating her birthday with friends at the Starlite Lounge when Brown decided to shoot up the joint. Truesdale was shot and killed. Brown was finally tracked down and arrested while he was hiding between mattresses like the chickenshit he is. We also discussed Brown’s other pending charges in a more recent post about his fellow gang members. Two other victims were also wounded that night in July.

Brown had been in jail since his arrest in August 2013. We received word yesterday that Brown was granted a $50,000 bond. This morning we did a statewide jail check for Dashawn Brown and it would appear he has been released from jail. He is not listed in any jail in the state of South Carolina.

Brown’s co-defendant, Ikeal Emar Markets Dacus, aka “Ikeal FlyGemini Dacus“, who was also charged with Murder and two counts of Attempted Murder in the same incident was released on a total of $50,000 bond in July of 2014.

It would appear Dacus was scheduled yesterday for a hearing on his motion for a speedy trial, as evidenced by the most recent post to his Thugbook page.

Dacus had this to say about the shooting prior to his arrest:

It sounds like Dacus and Brown had a beef they decided to settle with gunfire in a crowded parking lot. Seems to be a common thing in the thug world. Bitches too afraid to put hands on someone else and they resort to sending bullets downrange with no care for who they actually hit. Kind of like what happened in Chuck E. Cheese’s or at Northwoods Mall and any number of club shootings we have read about in recent years.

We also suspect neither of these two will ever be tried for these crimes. Having seen this sequence of events numerous times in all the circuits in South Carolina we can tell you what is probably about to happen.

The setting of these low bonds and the release of these suspects from jail is a prelude to the 1st Circuit Solicitor dismissing charges against these two. Either witnesses have been intimidated into changing their stories or the 1st Circuit Solicitor feels he doesn’t have enough evidence to go forward with the case. And we all know it’s better to just quietly dismiss a case than to take it trial with a chance of losing and being seen as a loser with an election year quickly approaching.

Hide and watch.

  1. Unfortunately this happens way too often. As you stated, charges get dropped because witnesses are intimidated or change their stories altogether. Sad as it is, solicitors won’t take a case to trial if they know it can’t be won. Who can blame them? It’s a waste of tax dollars and an embarrassment to their office. However, I will disagree with your shot about ‘looking like a loser’ just before an election. Again, why take it to trial if you can’t win? It’s literally a lose-lose situation. Combine that with these judges granting ridiculously low bonds and it’s almost a relief when these idiots take each other out, sad as it is to say.

    • A hands-down no evidence case - we can see that being put off. Maybe something will surface later to allow prosecution. Unfortunately, in the world of politics image is everything. We continue to see cases that could go either way, but are dismissed out of hand so the solicitor won’t look bad if it turns into a loss. Don’t believe us? Round up a few local detectives and ask them about it.

  3. Dashawn Brown is actually still being housed in the Dorchester County Detention Center… But, unfortunately, he’s only waiting on an ankle monitor.

    • That’s interesting. So, if bond is set and paid and someone is just awaiting some little detail for their release, they will not show up in the Vinelink jail database.

    • For most agencies it should be possible to still locate an inmate who is being retained for any reason - including the small details. However, I believe, Dorchester County is currently
offline for Vinelink, in which case, Dashawn Brown wouldn’t appear in a search.
