Devin Middleton
While perusing the list of arrests in Charleston County we came across CTL alumni Devin Brandon Middleton. It seems Middleton, last known as “Lildevinten Toestaliban“, was arrested on August 2nd on another charge of Murder. This is not Middleton’s first time. Middleton is a known member of a local gang which hails from Spring and Coming streets.
We aren’t sure yet which murder he is charged with. It could be a recent case or investigators may have uncovered new evidence and revived a murder charge previously dismissed by the 9th Circuit Solicitor.
We have written about Middleton several times since 2012. Middleton and Dontez Wright were charged with the Crosstown murder of Wiliam Dee Nelson in 2012. Apparently they had been involved in a feud with Nelson over drug turf. In 2014 the 9th Circuit Solicitor dismissed all charges related to the murder. Let’s run through Middleton’s history one more time. Most of these charges were captured by us when we first wrote about Middleton. It’s a good thing we still have them as many have disappeared from the public database.
2009 Charges:
Armed Robbery - Dismissed by the 9th Circuit Solicitor.
Possession of a Firearm During a Violent Crime - Dismissed by the 9th Circuit Solicitor.
Possession of a Firearm During a Violent Crime - Dismissed by the 9th Circuit Solicitor.
Armed Robbery - Dismissed by the 9th Circuit Solicitor.
Armed Robbery - Dismissed by the 9th Circuit Solicitor.
2010 Charges:
Unlawful Possession of a Handgun by a Minor - Plead guilty. Sentenced by Judge Stephanie McDonald to a YOA term not to exceed 1 to 5 years, suspended in favor of 2 years probation.
Unlawful Carrying of a Handgun - Plead guilty. Sentenced to time served.
Possession of a Stolen Handgun - Dismissed by the 9th Circuit Solicitor.
2012 Charges:
Note: These charges have all disappeared from the public database so we can safely assume all were dismissed by the 9th Circuit Solicitor.
Unlawful Carrying of a Pistol -
Pointing & Presenting a Firearm
Probation Violation
Murder
Possession of a Weapon During a Violent Crime
Probation Violation
Assault & Battery by Mob 3rd Degree
The weapons charges from 2012 were the result of Middleton, a known gang member, carrying an AK-47 and hiding the bushes at a Waffle House on Aviation Avenue. Middleton fled from police and jumped into a pond. He was arrested and the weapon was recovered. Nice of the solicitor to dismiss those charges, huh?
2014 Charges:
Unlawful Carrying of a Pistol - Dismissed by the 9th Circuit Solicitor.
PWID Marijuana - Dismissed by the 9th Circuit Solicitor.
PWID Marijuana Near a School - Dismissed by the 9th Circuit Solicitor.
As you can see, Middleton is just another victim of our racist criminal justice system and over zealous prosecutors. Yes, we are being sarcastic.
We haven’t updated our 9th Circuit Solicitor gun crime tally lately, but we have been keeping track of the numbers. The latest update is:
196 charges sampled 105 gun charges dismissed 42 guilty pleas/convictions 49 gun charges pending 1 gun charge soon to be dismissed due to murder of offender.
Oh come now. You know he’s just “misunderstood” and such a great guy at heart.
Why, I’m sure it’s that damn flags fault that he’s in this predicament….don’t ya know !
