Masters Inn Meth Mopes

 

We were scanning the arrest logs at SACDC and found two meth mopes who were busted at the Masters Inn on Rivers Avenue. That hotel is known for catering to a variety of unsavory types.

Charles Richard Dobson, Jr. of Mt. Pleasant and Steven Lane Grimes of Summerville were arrested Friday when their hotel room meth lab was discovered. Dobson was charged with one count of Manufacturing Methamphetamine. It appears Grimes was charged with Manufacturing Meth and Distribution of Meth. Neither has had a bond hearing as of this morning.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

This would be Grimes’ first arrest in Charleston County, but he has a history and charges pending in the Berkeley County office of the 9th Circuit Solicitor.

In 2013 Grimes was charged with Receiving Stolen Goods. He as found guilty by Judge Paula McElvogue in magistrate’s court and sentenced to a fine or 30 days in jail.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

On July 12th, 2014 Grimes was charged with Possession of Methamphetamine. He was released on a $5,000 personal recognizance bond by Judge Polk. No word on whether Polk provided Grimes with a defense for his charges. This charge is still pending.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Ten days later Grimes was arrested again. He was charged again with Possession of Methamphetamine. Judge Polk gave him another $5,000 personal recognizance bond.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Grimes managed to stay off the police radar until January 14th, 2015 when he was charged with Breach of Trust (theft). Judge Polk, who was apparently tired of seeing Grimes at bond hearings decided to go way harsh on him this time and issued a $10,000 personal recognizance bond. We know, that judge is really tough, huh?

 

 

 

 

 

 

So, what has Grimes learned in his short criminal career? He’s learned there really are no consequences.

 

 

Charles Dobson’s criminal history dates back to 2007 when he was charged with PWID Marijuana. The 9th Circuit Solicitor reduced it to Simple Possession of Marijuana and Judge James Gosnell issued a $200 fine.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

In 2008 Dobson was charged with 2nd Offense Possession of Marijuana. The 9th Circuit Solicitor reduced the charge to a non-criminal Possession of Drug Paraphernalia. Judge Gosnell issued a civil fine of $150 on this one.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

In February of 2009 Dobson was charged with two counts of Distribution of Heroin. The 9th Circuit Solicitor reduced those to Possession of Heroin. Judge Roger Young sentenced Dobson to a YOA term not to exceed five years, suspended in favor of two years of probation.

Dobson was charged with violating that probation less than 3 months later. Nothing appears to have been done with regard to that, however.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

In July of 2013 Dobston was charged with Possession of Narcotics yet again. He plead guilty and was once again sentenced by Roger Young. This time the sentence was two days time served.

 

 

 

 

 

 

Dobson, like his pal Grimes and so many other offenders in town, has learned there really are no consequences for violating the law.

Not like that is a revelation to regular readers of CTL.

 

 

Update: After posting this we discovered there was another arrest made. Sarah Elizabeth Nunnally of Summerville was also charged with Manufacturing Methamphetamine and Distribution of Methamphetamine.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

It would appear Nunnally is the main squeeze of Steven Grimes as they were also arrested together in July of 2014. Nunnally also has a pending charge in Berkeley County of Possession of Methamphetamine. She was given a $3,000 personal recognizance bond by that notorious hard-ass Judge Polk.
