Exposing the criminal element for 3 years

Lowcountry Violence

Andrew Knapp of the P&C wrote an interesting story on Lowcountry violence. He actually filled the article with facts and statistics and kept the propaganda to a minimum, although he did throw in the usual Propaganda & Criminals nod to Dot Scott and let her ramble on unchallenged about how all this violence is the fault of the police. Andrew apparently asked her about the criticism levied by readers of Charleston Thug Life. Like when you point out the NAACP’s reticence to tell the truth and get to the root of the violence problem in the black community. Here’s a pull quote from Dot Scott to show you what we are talking about.

Scott deflects criticism that the local NAACP steps up only when the police are involved in a controversy, rather than when young men kill their peers.

Well, gee, Andrew. It sure is nice you asked Dot “killing a nigger is a badge of honor” Scott about that. But we have to ask, just how did Dot Scott deflect that criticism? What exactly did she say about that criticism? How did she counter that criticism?

That is some miserable reporting, Andrew. The fact that you put that sentence in your article, then purposely fail to show any evidence of how Scott dealt with that criticism not only makes readers question your motives and agenda, it shows you are willing to follow the Propaganda & Criminals editorial policy of never putting the useless NAACP on the spot and seriously detracts from what could be a great article. Here’s a tip, Andrew - never be afraid to ask the hard questions or put the answers in your stories. Your readers respect you more when you do that. The second half of that pull quote went like this:

But she argued that fairness and equality from the government are keys to quelling violence.

Oh, now we see. The NAACP, supposedly an advocate for the advancement of colored people (is that even PC?), fails to act on the massive amounts of violence in the black community nationwide, within the very communities they claim to represent, yet the entitlement whores want the government  (read: taxpayers) to stop the violence.

Okay, that’s cool. The government has been trying to do just that by flooding violent black neighborhoods with law enforcement officers, instituting those crackdowns on “quality of life” infractions, conducting traffic stops and stopping known black criminals on the street. What does the government get in return for this massive expenditure of taxpayer money? They get statements like the following, represented as fact with no substantiation whatsoever, from reporters at the Propaganda & Criminals and ignorant people like Dot Scott who, if you will remember, just demanded the government do something to stop the violence:

Some activists have taken a more controversial stance, asserting that police tactics have stirred mistrust and perpetuated lawlessness.

Really, Andrew? If you were honest with your readers you would point out the fact that the tactics of groups like the NAACP and your new pet, “Elder” James Johnson, are what has stirred mistrust and perpetuated lawlessness. Need evidence of that? After our last post about Johnson we received this email from a former police officer:

In a follow-up email after the murder of Johnson’s grandson, Terrance McNeil, that same officer told us that McNeil was one of the crew that woman frequently hid from police. Gee, no wonder Johnson was defending her and trying to interfere with the police and demanding all white officers be removed from the southernmost environs of North Charleston.

How’s that for stirring up mistrust and lawlessness? Andrew Knapp and the rest of the media keep publishing those feel good soundbites from Johnson and Scott about how their community needs to help the police solve these crimes, then they turn around and make racist remarks like the one above when the microphones are put away and hold press conferences telling folks not to trust the police. They go into “their” communities to gin up controversy where none exists and complain about the police actually doing what we pay them to do - go after criminals. Scott and Johnson spend so much time stirring up hatred and mistrust of the police because that is what brings in the cash needed to keep their racist organizations alive.

Andrew half-assed his reporting in another respect and hoped you wouldn’t catch it. He reported there have been 32 murders in the tri-county since January 1st. He reported that 72 percent of the victims (23) were black. Well, who is killing all those black folks? Is the White Devil killing them? Is it the evil poleeses? Another tip, Andrew - just because a fact is uncomfortable doesn’t mean you should withhold it from your readers. Once again, it makes them question your motives, your agenda and your honesty.

Too bad Andrew didn’t take the next logical step. He left out how many of the murderers were black. We would report that fact if we had access to official police department statistics like Andrew Knapp and the rest of the media. Dot Scott knows the truth, though. Her little slip of the tongue makes that plain. “We’re really in our little Chicago”, Scott told Knapp. And who is busy doing the killing and the dying in Chicago, Dot?

After the murder of the young woman (and the shooting of multiple others) in Berkeley County we did our due diligence and surfed social media looking for clues. We found a couple, too. We sent those to an email address for a BCSO detective. We never received an acknowledgement of receipt, or a “Hey, thanks.” So, since Dot Scott and James Johnson are in the media encouraging people to step forward and help the police solve that and other violent crimes, we will publicize what we sent to BCSO. Maybe it will shame a few folks into telling the truth. At this point we will keep the names/screen names blurred. If we have to push harder at a later date, we will re-publish these images without the blur. We would hope these folks cooperated with police in their effort to find the murderers of Ariel Morgan. Of course, with 1,500 people reported to be at this party we can’t expect these folks to know everyone who was there. Word has it at least some of the shooters were not locals.

Ariel Morgan was not a thug. She was an 18 year old girl trying to have a good time celebrating graduation and looking forward to life as an adult. Someone from that crowd of 1,500 needs to step up and do right by her.

Here is a post from a female who was dancing with one of the shooters and jumped into the back of a truck with several other shooters.

Thanks to Andrew Knapp’s article we have learned that Chief Mullen of CPD and Wendell Gilliard have been pushing for changes to SC Statute 16-23-20, Unlawful Carrying of a Firearm. Mullen is correct that no matter how many times someone is convicted of that crime it is still just a misdemeanor punishable by a fine and no more than one year in prison. Gilliard and Mullen want to change the law to make 3rd and subsequent offenses a felony punishable by up to five years in prison.

That’s great, Chief. The only problem with your logic is finding anyone who has ever been convicted of that crime in the 9th Circuit, much less multiple times. In case you haven’t noticed, the 9th Circuit Solicitor consistently dismisses firearms charges when handing out her “hug-a-thug” plea deals. Don’t believe us? Spend a day or two reading this through this blog. That’s why we back up our arrest analysis posts with screen caps to document what we are reporting is true. Based on our admittedly unscientific analysis the only charge Scarlett Wilson dismisses more often than firearms charges is distribution of narcotics near a school.

Passing a feel good law without the full support of the people charged with prosecuting those violations of the law doesn’t do much good. Kind of like the bond law you championed with Scarlett Wilson. How’s that one working out for you? You didn’t really expect bond judges who set the bonds, and circuit judges who reduced those bonds, to actually cooperate with you, did you? You can’t be that naive. Or maybe you are.

  1. Chief Mullen is that naive, all you have to do is look at all of the cameras on the streetlights downtown, his push for cameras on officers (that they can turn on and off at will), the nanny regulations he supports with regards to the food and beverage industry, IBM supporting predictive policing in the area, etc. It is obvious that he has no clue about the history of Charleston, nor the cultural makeup of the area he is in charge of policing with the LARGEST police force in the state. He thinks all of his issues can be solved by more laws and greater technology.

  5. Did you really have to use the “n-word?” Seriously?

    • Um, you obviously did not click the associated link. That is what Dot Scott said publicly about your police officers - “It’s a badge of honor to kill a nigger”. Maybe you should send her an email and express your distaste to her. Attacking those who report what is said by obvious racists and hate mongers won’t get you anywhere. You have to go after the racist and hate monger to be effective.

    • Um, Chief quoted Dot Scott who used the word when making her “Badge of Honor” accusation.

Does Dot Scott have to use the n word? Seriously?

Are only blacks allowed to quote Dot Scott’s inflammatory comment? Seriously?

Is the n word more offensive than the rest of her heartfelt opinion? Seriously?

      Over Time or Obtuse Troll?

    • Blacks use the “n-word” all the time to refer to themselves, so what’s the problem with others using it?

    • Yet I wonder if you would use it in a group of us, and if you would have the nerve to insist that your usage of it is ok because “blacks” use it too.

    • CTL didn’t. Dot Scott did. CTL just quoted her.

    • Out of all that, you are more worried about a word? smh…

  7. Why isn’t the “real” media (who don’t seem “really” effective) doing reporting like this!? Yes, it’s obvious that precisely NO ONE gets convicted THREE times for Unlawful Carrying of a Firearm in Charleston. Hell, even Felon in Possession of a Firearm seems too much trouble to prosecute. CTL has clearly exposed where our local criminal justice system’s problems are.
