Exposing the criminal element for 3 years

Brian Ancrum, Again

Serial offender Brian Ancrum is in the news again, although when they reported his most recent arrest the media failed to mention his prior history. Or the fact he was free on $200,000 bond on a murder charge. But, that’s why Charleston Thug Life exists - to do the job the media won’t.

Regular readers will remember the gang shootout in downtown Charleston last July in which Summatown Bound member Don’ta Pringle was killed. Serial murderer Glendell Gladden and his pal, Brian Ancrum, were charged in that case. Ancrum sat in jail until December of 2013 when Judge Stephanie McDonald decided to give him a $200,000 bond on charges of Murder and Attempted Murder. Ancrum had previously applied for a bond modification in August of 2013, but that had been denied. Let’s take a look at the record for those charges which are still pending.

Ancrum also has pending charges from April of 2013 when he was charged with Unlawful Carrying of a Handgun and Possession of a Stolen Handgun. He was given a total bond of $100,000 on those charges and was free on that bond when he killed Pringle. As you can see from the record, the only documentation in the database is the bond court entry. Either the information got lost on the way to the solicitor’s office or the clerk of court hasn’t entered the GSC information yet.

So, while free on $300,000 bond for four charges, including murder and attempted murder, Ancrum is arrested again, this time by CCSO. Now he is charged with Trafficking Cocaine, Trafficking Crack Cocaine, Distribution of Crack Cocaine, Unlawful Neglect of a Child, and two counts of Possession of a Firearm During a Violent Crime. Judge Lombard set a total bond of $750,000 on those charges.

No word yet whether the 9th Circuit Solicitor will seek bond revocations on the other four pending charges from 2013.

Deshon Ancrum

Another fine example of the failed system in South Carolina is Deshon Ancrum, who was arrested with Brian. We assume they are brothers since they both the use the same address of 856 Tripe Street in Charleston. Deshon was also out on bond when he was arrested on April 4th and charged with PWID Marijuana and Unlawful Neglect of a Child. His total bond on those two offenses was set at $200,000.

While out on bond on the above charges, Deshon Ancrum was charged with Possession of Crack Cocaine and released on a $10,000 Personal Recognizance bond. That’s nice!

Also arrested with the Ancrums was Joshua Grampus. We checked the tri-county databases and found no adult criminal history for him. He was charged with Trafficking Cocaine, Trafficking Crack Cocaine, Distribution of Crack Cocaine, Unlawful Neglect of a Child and two counts of Possession of a Firearm During a Violent Crime. His total bond was set at $375,000.

Since Grampus has no adult criminal history he can apply for bond reduction and Judge Thomas “Felon’s Friend” Hughston can give him a $10 personal recognizance bond on all those charges in a few months.

While we didn’t find an adult criminal history on Grampus, we did find his Thugbook page under the name “Slay N Slingum Rackz“. Everything we found there is consistent with the pages of the hundreds of other drug dealers we have profiled.

While you are out this weekend enjoying the Bridge Run or the Flowertown Festival take a look around. Ask yourself, “How many dangerous felons are around me right now because some bond judge, some solicitor or some circuit judge isn’t doing their job correctly?” Then go have some fun!
